What is Kirtan + Mantra?

Kirtan is one form of Nāda Yoga (Yoga of sound) and Bhakti Yoga (Yoga of the heart) combining ancient sanskrit sounds (mantras) with melody and rhythm offered in dynamic call and response.

Mantra is a vehicle, tool and sound vibration to bring the mind from a state of flux to stillness. When the mind is still, we are truly ourselves – peaceful, loving, blissful and free!

Kirtan and mantra can help elevate our thoughts & emotions, purify and boost our energy and expand our awareness and can be practised by everyone, regardless of age or experience.

Why Chant Mantra?

Chanting mantra is a powerful way to restore balance in a busy and demanding world. Through sound and rhythm, mantra helps generate vital energy (śakti) while simultaneously expanding awareness and heart consciousness (yoga).

We need both energy and clarity to move through life with purpose, creativity, and peace—and mantra offers a direct pathway to nourish these qualities from within.

Sanskrit mantras work through vibration and resonance, affecting us on subtle levels of body, mind, and emotion. As we chant, we begin to vibrate with the qualities the mantras embody—such as courage, compassion, strength, or inner stillness—gently lifting us out of heavy or repetitive mental patterns.

In this way, mantra becomes a bridge to higher states of energy and awareness, supporting purification, transformation, and a deeper sense of connection to ourselves and to life itself.

Mantra is a fundamental tool of yoga, found in many branches of yoga such as bhakti, rāja, nāda, and hatha.
